Good day sisters – Mothers. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY. The Bible, the book of the Christian Faith carries many stories about Mothers. Some honorable and some disreputable. At any rate the point is the importance of a mother’s care and influence and the power of a mother to shape lives and circumstances. Mothers represent God’s nature in all these ways. God is pleased to use the Imagery of motherhood to speak about himself. Today we honor you whether you actually gave birth or simply have been there as a mother image or in a mothering role. We live in difficult social and economic times and mothers irrespective of status always have to be concerned with navigating the times and circumstances to nurture and care for their families.Today, be encouraged God sees. God knows. God will strengthen. God will comfort. God will absolve. God will provide. God will deliver. God will reward. Trust in the LORD for all things and he will show you his way. Here are some of the ways in which God honors you by likening himself to you.
Giving Birth: In Deuteronomy 32:18, God is described as “the Rock who fathered you” and “the God who gave you birth”.
Comforting Mother: Isaiah 66:13 quotes God saying, “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you”.
Nursing/Compassionate Mother: Isaiah 49:15 uses the image of a nursing mother to highlight God’s unbreakable love, asking if a mother can forget her nursing child.
Laboring Woman: In Isaiah 42:14, God compares Himself to a woman in labor, gaspingly bringing forth new life.
Mother Hen: Jesus describes his desire to protect Jergaspinglya saying he wanted to gather her children together, “as a hen gathers her brood under her wings” (Luke 13:34, Matthew 23:37).
Mother Eagle: Deuteronomy 32:10-11 describes God as an eagle stirring up her nest and hovering over her young, protecting them.
